MAE Graduate Research Symposium
The Research Symposium is jointly sponsored by the Graduate College, VP for Research Office, and MAE. It is a forum for graduate students and advanced-level undergraduate students to present their research to a general audience. The Research Symposium is designed to facilitate the exchange of ideas and knowledge among faculty and students, to provide opportunities for students to develop their technical presentation skills, and to promote the research activities of the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department to undergraduates and other interested individuals.

1st place: $500
2nd place: $250
3rd place: $150
Best graduate poster presentation†: $100
Best undergraduate poster presentation: $100
Best visual quality of oral presentation†: $100
⁎ Only the first/presenting author is eligible for the prizes.
† Prizes are awarded as a John Brammer Scholarship and are applied to the first/presenting author’s OSU bursar account.
To be considered for the symposium, research abstracts should be submitted using the following forms by 5:00 pm CDT on September 10, 2018.
Abstract body is limited to no more than 1,300 characters including spaces.
Abstract title is limited to no more than 140 characters including spaces.
Abstract submission needs prior approval from thesis/research advisor. The advisor will be notified upon abstract submission.
16 abstracts will be selected for the symposium.
Authors of the selected abstracts and their advisors will be notified by October 05, 2018.
The symposium will be held on Friday, November 02, 2018 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Each presenter will be allotted 10 minutes for the talk, 3 minutes for questions and answers, and 2 minutes for transition to the next speaker.
Coffee and lunch will be provided to attendees.
